In addition this candidate displays a variety of other skills including initiative, creative thinking, great work ethic, determination and team work.

Analytical and problem solving skills are important to most every company and so it’s no surprise that job interviewers are beginning to ask about analytical and problem solving skill during the interview process.

For example,: if you are applying for a customer service role, you should use examples where you have resolved customer service issues.

As a sales person, you could use demonstrate your ability to handle push backs from clients, a project manager could demonstrate their ability to meet deadlines, an IT developer could show how they have optimised systems in the past.

We were up against 3 other IT companies and each had to deliver a proposal and a presentation.

Action: As one of the team members for this particular proposal, I did a lot of research on the company and I could see that their objectives were always focused around providing top quality service for their customers.

I was awarded sales person of the quarter for creativity and for going above and beyond the normal sales process.

This example demonstrates great problem solving skills by the candidate through their ability to analyse the needs of their customer and develop a strategy which would meet their need.

You know how to ask for things that you need and where to go to look for them.

Analytical thinking: Your ability to lose logic and critical thinking to analyse a situation.
