If your application is selected, you must complete and interview with the Volunteer Coordinator, a background check, a health history form (including proof of immunizations), two TB skin tests, and a Volunteer Orientation.
Acceptance of volunteers is contingent upon meeting the above requirements and the needs of the hospital.Adult Volunteer Information Carolinas Medical Center has created a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for adults interested in volunteering their time.We require all our adult volunteers to be 18 years of age and older.We also ask them to commit to a one year time frame of working the same shift, preferably every week.Our shifts range from two to four hours depending on the position, the department's needs and your schedule.Volunteers provide non-clinical support, but there are a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the hospital from delivering sterile equipment to various units, providing directions and/or escorting patients and visitors, assisting with clerical work, playing the lobby piano, and more.Educational learning sessions give students the opportunity to connect with health care professionals and explore a broad variety of hospital specialties.The Family, Guest & Volunteer Services department offers four internships with stipend each semester (fall, spring and summer).Our interns gain a well-rounded experience in many areas, including: coordinating and implementing programs and events, writing for newsletters and other print pieces, motivating and supervising volunteers, organizing events, planning and hosting meetings, customer service, data management, statistical tracking, general office management, and exposure in a hospital setting.For the Spring 2020 semester, intern selections will be made at the end of the year.
